Therium Group has decided to become the first full-service litigation funder in Germany.
Therium Group are one of the biggest third party funders globally. They currently have more than $300 million in committed capital. Therium has identified an appetite for litigation funding in Germany. It is reportedly driven by the increasing number of corporate and commercial disputes being seen in Germany. The regulatory environment in Germany has become more complex over the past few years, which is a contributing factor to this growth.
Therium’s move to Germany is not the start of their involvement in this jurisdiction. The firm is reported to be already engaged in Germany and has financed a variety of significant cases. These include legal proceedings for the remuneration of infrastructure construction work against a foreign sovereign state pleading state immunity and a securities litigation against a major German bank.
